Reflection - CamStudio

When Mr. Lim introduced and presented this application to us in the lecture, I felt like wheew! This technology will help us as teacher especially Science teacher that will integrate ICT in our lesson to make our teaching life easy. We realized that by using CamStudio, we can make our respective lessons and record it on our own desktop and save it for our classroom presentation. This time we will no longer talk and talk and talk in the classroom, our effort in the classroom now will be focused on the activities to enhance teaching and learning. These pre-recorded lessons that we make serve as our data bank of lessons (learning objects) to which we can use and reuse.

However, the 1st experience using CamStudio, I was very uncomfortable. I don’t know why, but once we opened this application using my laptop, all the instructions in CamStudio were shown in German. Even though I downloaded the latest version of CamStudio and installed with appropriate language, the instruction is still in German. After we change laptop, this problem solved.

Another challenge that we discovered using this application is, once we make mistake during recording, this is no way for us to undo except re-do it from the beginning. Very tiring. Then we realized that, before start using CamStudio, we have to prepare everything on our desktop. By the time, we start recording, just simply press F8 and F9 to stop.

Over all, those challenges that we faced through CamStudio make us more appreciate the powerful of technology and human intelligence. Don’t matter how great the technology is, human should be the most important item to control and conduct them.
